Design & Aesthetic

Forty-four millimetres of titanium, satin-finished and sandblasted, replace the platinum and white gold cases of earlier Freak [ONE] references. The case’s perceived height is 12.00 mm, with a sapphire caseback opening onto the movement in full motion below. For 2026, the bezel geometry has been softened with fewer pronounced notches, drawing on the [Super] Freak’s proportions for a more contemporary profile.

The blue enamel hour disc dominates visually. Its surface is engraved with a sunray pattern before the enamel is applied in successive layers, each fired at approximately 800°C, then hand-polished to its final brilliance. The intense colour deepens the visual contrast against the flying carousel at the movement’s centre. Donzé Cadrans, founded in Le Locle in 1972 and acquired by Ulysse Nardin in 2011, carries out this work; it is the oldest enamelling workshop in the Swiss watch industry.

Movement & Materials

Calibre UN-240 runs at 3 Hz (21,600 vph) and contains 229 components assembled entirely by a single watchmaker at Ulysse Nardin‘s manufacture. The orbital flying carousel — with no upper bridge — completes one revolution every 60 minutes, functioning as the minute hand. The hour disc, itself part of the movement, completes one rotation every 12 hours.

Silicon components include the balance wheel, the hairspring, and the DIAMonSIL escapement, a diamond-coated silicon architecture patented in 2007 and rated to withstand more than 185 million impacts per year. The Grinder® automatic winding system — four levers just 0.12 mm thick, effectively doubling angular stroke versus conventional rotors — feeds that architecture and returns a 90-hour power reserve.

Market Position & Edition Details

At USD 89,800 (tax excluded), the Freak [ONE Blue Enamel] sits above the standard Freak [ONE] tier. The titanium case and the enamelled disc together justify the positioning: both are production-intensive, and the 99-piece ceiling makes this among the most constrained releases in the current Freak line-up.
