Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre: Three Limited Editions at 37 mm

Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre: 37 mm, A5000 calibre, limited to 15–50 pieces per version. Three motor-sport dial combinations for collectors in the Middle East.

The Finer Points

  • Limited to 15 pieces in yellow gold and 30 or 50 pieces in steel, the Chronographe Tachymètre marks Angelus’ slimmest contemporary case at 37 mm wide and 9.25 mm thick.
  • Three dial combinations draw directly from motor-sport colour codes: gold with British racing green, coral-pink with steel-grey, and pearl-grey with petrol-blue.
  • The A5000 calibre, just 4.20 mm thick, drives the chronograph via column wheel and horizontal clutch, with gilded main plate and bridges throughout.
  • Prices start at CHF 18,500 for the steel versions; the yellow gold is CHF 34,600, Swiss retail inclusive of VAT.

Design & Mechanics

Three distinct colour pairings, one shared architecture: the Chronographe Tachymètre measures 37 mm in diameter and 9.25 mm in thickness, making it the most compact piece currently in production at Angelus. Founded in Le Locle in 1891, the maison quickly built its identity around alarms, repeaters and chronographs, and this release traces a direct line back to the output of the 1930s to 1950s.

The case band carries a curve that runs lug to lug, accentuating the twist of each lug as it sweeps downward. On the dial, the central section is grained, the counters are snailed, and the flange is satin-finished. Applied hour markers and Arabic numerals receive a black finish on steel cases and a gold-toned finish on the yellow gold version.

Movement & Materials

At 4.20 mm thick, the A5000 calibre is well-suited to a case of these proportions. The movement beats at 3 Hz, delivers a 42-hour power reserve, and actuates the chronograph through a column wheel and horizontal clutch. The main plate and bridges are gilded in 3N yellow gold, finished with Côtes de Genève and chamfering; only the chronograph mechanism receives rhodium plating.

Angelus won the Chronograph Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2025 for its Chronographe Télémètre, placing the Tachymètre in an already prize-validated family.

Market Position

At CHF 18,500 for the steel references and CHF 34,600 for the yellow gold, the Tachymètre sits in a bracket where manually-wound column-wheel chronographs with this level of finishing are scarce. The steel editions, limited to 30 and 50 pieces respectively, occupy a competitive price point for collectors in Europe and the Middle East seeking an alternative to higher-volume Swiss production.
