Angelus Chronodate Gold & Chronodate Titanium Moka Editions

Key Highlights

  • Mocha-brown sunray dials with metallic black counters for contrast and legibility.
  • 42.5 mm modular case with carbon composite chamber and openworked cradle in 18-carat red gold (5N) or grade 5 titanium.
  • Angelus A-500 self-winding column-wheel chronograph calibre with 60-hour power reserve and peripheral pointer date.
  • Design echoes the 1942 Chronodate with twin counters, peripheral date and red openworked arrowhead date hand.
  • Very limited production: five pieces in red gold and twenty-five in titanium with interchangeable straps and bracelet.

The Angelus Chronodate Gold and Chronodate Titanium Moka editions introduce a mocha-brown sunray dial to the neo-retro Chronodate line. They reinterpret the 1940s Chronodate in a 42.5 mm format while preserving the peripheral date and twin-counter layout.

The warm mocha tone plays against the dark carbon composite case chamber and metallic black counters, creating a sports chronograph that mixes heritage cues with contemporary construction.

Case architecture and materials

The Chronodate Moka uses a 42.5 mm modular case built around a carbon-fibre-based composite chamber that houses the movement, crown and pushers. This dark core is framed by an openworked cradle that merges case middle and lugs, supports a fixed twelve-notch bezel and holds a box-shaped sapphire crystal.

On the Chronodate Gold, bezel, crown and monobloc case middle are in 18-carat red gold (5N); on the Chronodate Titanium, they are in grade 5 titanium. Alternating satin and polished surfaces emphasise the contrast with the composite core, while a sapphire case back with engraved relief reveals the movement.

Dial, heritage and movement

The Chronodate name recalls Angelus chronographs of the 1930s and 1940s, particularly the 1942 Chronodate with peripheral date and wide counters. The Moka editions preserve the twin-register layout and peripheral date, adding a mocha shade that links historic references with today’s sports chronograph tastes.

The dial combines a mocha-brown sunray base, peripheral minutes track, 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock in metallic black with snailed texture. Gold-finished Arabic numerals, luminescent hands, the red openworked arrowhead pointer date hand and red accents on the pushers and chronograph hands reinforce the Chronodate identity.

Both Moka references use the Angelus Manufacture A-500 calibre, a self-winding chronograph with small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a peripheral pointer date. It beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vph), offers a 60-hour power reserve and is driven by a column wheel with horizontal clutch.

The movement aesthetic is contemporary, with a sandblasted main plate and bead-blasted bridges treated with NAC for an anthracite tone, circular-grained rhodium-plated wheels and chamfered edges. Three-bladed propeller screws appear on the bridges, and the oscillating weight carries a red-gold segment on the Chronodate Gold and a tungsten segment on the Titanium, with a capital “A” above a star.

Configurations, straps and editions

The case measures 42.50 mm in diameter and 14.25 mm in thickness, with water-resistance of 3 bar (30 metres/100 feet). An interchangeable strap system allows switching between a titanium bracelet for the Titanium reference, a mocha-brown alligator strap and a black rubber strap, with folding clasps in red gold or titanium to match each case.

The Chronodate Gold is limited to five pieces, while the Chronodate Titanium is limited to twenty-five pieces. Swiss retail pricing is indicated at CHF 43,100 including VAT for the red gold version with alligator and rubber straps, and CHF 25,100 including VAT for the titanium model with titanium bracelet, alligator and rubber straps, subject to change.

Why it matters

The Chronodate Gold and Chronodate Titanium Moka editions underline Angelus’s identity as both a historic chronograph specialist and a modern manufacture working with advanced materials. For collectors, the mocha dial, carbon-based case construction, in-house column-wheel calibre and very low production numbers create a focused connoisseur proposition.

For GCC clients seeking low-volume chronographs with clear design language and authentic heritage, the Chronodate Moka duo offers a discreet yet collectible option with a distinctive mocha aesthetic.
