Design & Mechanics
The Masterlink was designed to make complexity invisible. Its 38 mm square case — more compact than the Maestro it succeeds — carries an asymmetrical profile inherited from the original vocabulary of Gérald Charles Genta, the designer who argued that a perfectly executed steel watch could occupy the highest tier of haute horlogerie. That conviction shaped every proportion here.
The integrated bracelet extends that philosophy into its most demanding territory. Because the Maestro’s case curves at 6 o’clock in the so-called ‘smile’, the bracelet is, in effect, different on each side of the watch: the central links follow the curve at 6 o’clock, then gradually straighten; at 12 o’clock, they continue the case’s straight topline. No screws appear anywhere on the outer surface. The butterfly clasp is concealed within the final links, with push-pieces hidden inside. Sizing adjusts in half-link increments for millimetre precision.
The lineage of that bracelet has a little-known origin: the Sarawak, a diamond-and-ruby integrated bracelet piece created by Mr. Genta in 2007 for the Royal family of Sarawak, unknown to the public until 2024, and the direct predecessor of the Masterlink’s bracelet architecture.

Inside, the self-winding GCA 1000 manufacture calibre runs at 3 Hz across 176 components with 29 rubies, delivering a 50-hour power reserve. At 2.67 mm, it is among the thinnest self-winding manufacture movements available at this specification level. Bridges carry snailing, Côtes de Genève, and circular graining. A sapphire caseback with inner and outer multi-layer anti-reflective coating makes the finishing visible from both sides.
Then there is the dial. Each Maillechort surface is worked individually by a Gerald Charles artisan using a process that has no automated stage. Hundreds of carefully controlled strikes build up a texture of small facets, each one slightly different from the last. As Federico Ziviani, CEO, put it: “Our aim was to let simplicity conceal complexity. Designing a watch where you can feel everything, yet see nothing — now that’s truly a highwire act.” No applied indices interrupt the surface; the hammered texture is left unobstructed so that light can travel across it without interruption.
