Design & Composition

Bitter almond is, as Kurkdjian himself has acknowledged, a note that “rarely stands out in the world of perfumery.” At the wrong concentration it reads as pastry; at the right one it risks disappearing into the skin entirely. Kurkdjian’s solution was architectural: construct every other element to support the almond rather than compete with it.

A bright citrus triad of mandarin, orange, and lime opens the formula, introduced, in the perfumer’s words, “to light up the entire formula.” The heart then lands on bitter almond rendered simultaneously fresh, biscuit-like, and reminiscent of orgeat syrup — the almond cordial that Christian Dior kept among his personal favourites. Tonka bean at the base sustains the gourmand warmth without ever tipping into heaviness.

Heritage & Lineage

Christian Dior purchased the Château de La Colle Noire late in his life as a retreat from Paris. The property held hectares of fragrant flowers, vineyards, olive trees, and fruit trees, but its most treasured feature was the almond orchard he tended personally. Kurkdjian has spent his tenure at the Maison deepening its fragrance identity through exactly these private references.

“Dior Paradise was born from my desire to continue my olfactory homage to Christian Dior’s beloved southern France,” Kurkdjian has stated. “I wanted to evoke memories of the enormous orchard he cultivated at the Château de La Colle Noire, and more particularly the hundreds of almond trees he wanted to grow there.” Read in full, Dior Paradise is less a summer fragrance than a fragrance about a specific summer place, seen through its founder’s own sensibility.

The Couture Case and Dioriviera Context

For Summer 2026, Dior Paradise joins Jasmin des Anges and Gris Dior as a coordinated trio, all three housed in an exclusive couture case adorned with the Dior cannage motif. Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Christian Dior Couture, reimagined the motif drawing on the visual language of Christian Bérard — illustrator, artist, and one of Christian Dior’s closest friends, known to his inner circle as “Bébé.”

Anderson’s Bérard reference extends across the entire Dioriviera 2026 capsule, from the new Dior Arabesque print in ready-to-wear to limited-edition earthenware produced with the Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy (founded 1798). The fragrance case, rendered in one of three sun-kissed seasonal colours, sits within that coherent creative narrative rather than as a standalone packaging decision.

Availability

The Dioriviera 2026 capsule debuted at the Dior Gold House Bangkok and has since rolled out across 19 destinations, including seasonal pop-ups in Mykonos, Saint-Tropez, and Portofino.
