HAUTLENCE Sphere Series 3

HAUTLENCE / Sphere Series 3

Key Highlights

  • More compact rectangular grade 5 titanium case housing a reworked movement.
  • Signature three-axis spherical hours display in vivid purple, paired with retrograde minutes.
  • Hand-wound calibre A82 with minimum 72-hour power reserve and 160 components.
  • Skeletonised architecture revealing the kinetic choreography of gears and barrel.
  • Limited edition of 28 pieces, underscoring HAUTLENCE’s independent avant-garde stance.

A more focused vision of kinetic time

With the Sphere Series 3, HAUTLENCE condenses its spherical-hours concept into a more intimate, architectural format. The rectangular case adopts reduced proportions yet preserves the visual impact that has made the Sphere a reference in contemporary independent watchmaking.

Crafted in satin-finished and polished grade 5 titanium, the case features clean, sculptural lines with subtle reliefs along the flanks that echo the brand’s rectangular codes. Water resistance to 10 ATM keeps the design practical, while sapphire crystals front and back with anti-reflective treatment and bevelled edges frame the movement as a piece of kinetic art.

The HAUTLENCE Sphere Series 3 brings the brand’s kinetic-hours signature into a more compact titanium architecture.

On the left side of the dial, the Sphere remains the focal point. Formed by two polished titanium shells coated in purple, it rotates on three axes, revealing the hours through a precise mechanical ballet. Four conical gears arranged around two crossed axes inclined at 21 degrees govern this motion, while skeletonisation around the Sphere heightens the impression that it is suspended in space.

Opposite, the retrograde minute hand animates the right side of the dial. Executed in grade 5 titanium with purple PVD and filled with white Super-LumiNova®, it sweeps along a suspended minute track before snapping back to zero in a controlled return, and the openworked dial exposes gears, freewheel and snail cam as part of the spectacle.

Calibre A82: condensed ingenuity

At the heart of the Sphere Series 3 lies the hand-wound mechanical movement A82, specially adapted for this compact case. Designed and assembled in HAUTLENCE’s workshops, it translates the original Sphere calibre into a reduced format while preserving spherical hours and retrograde minutes over a 180° sector at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 160 components and 31 jewels.

The movement is fully skeletonised to emphasise the energy flow, with barrel and ratchet exposing the tension of the mainspring and helping visualise the minimum 72-hour power reserve. A security mechanism protects the calibre from incorrect manipulation such as reverse time setting, and a purple suede leather strap with titanium folding clasp completes the piece in harmony with the dial’s colour signature.

HAUTLENCE: an independent sculptor of time

Since 2004, HAUTLENCE has drawn on its Neuchâtel roots to challenge traditional watchmaking codes, developing ten in-house calibres and an aesthetic language that blends design, architecture and movement. Supported by MELB Holding since 2012 and producing around 200 pieces annually, the manufacture cultivates an exclusive distribution and a distinctly contemporary identity, and the Sphere Series 3 stands as a clear expression of this philosophy.

For GCC collectors seeking independent voices and mechanically expressive pieces, HAUTLENCE offers a focused proposition through such kinetic, sculptural time displays.

Why it matters

The Sphere Series 3 crystallises HAUTLENCE’s ambition to elevate mechanics to kinetic art while improving wearability through more compact proportions. As a limited edition of 28 pieces, it reinforces the brand’s standing among independents and highlights a distinctive way of presenting hours and minutes. It will appeal to collectors who view timepieces as mechanical objects of volume, motion and light.
