A Living Architecture of Time

The Sphere Series 4 continues HAUTLENCE’s vision of time in motion, where mechanics both indicate and stage the passing hours. Its sculptural sphere displays the jumping hours while rotating on three axes, turning each change of hour into a controlled mechanical choreography.

A skeletonised dial exposes the A82 calibre beneath, with bridges and wheels appearing suspended to create depth. Set on the left side, the sphere seems to float within this landscape, making the reading of time deliberately unconventional.

HAUTLENCE’s design language is anchored by a rectangular grade 5 titanium case that balances sharp contours with wearable proportions. Satin-finished and polished surfaces emphasise the architecture, while 10 ATM water resistance and sapphire crystals front and back underline the technical character.

The Three-Axis Jumping-Hour Sphere

The three-axis jumping-hour sphere is crafted in structured grade 5 titanium with a sandblasted, sand-coloured finish. Engraved hour numerals filled with white Super-LumiNova® ensure legibility within the three-dimensional layout.

The sphere rotates via four bevel gears arranged around two crossed axes inclined at 21 degrees, enabling precise jumps while appearing almost weightless. Each hour change becomes a brief spectacle, turning time display into a dynamic event.

Around this focal point, a skeletonised, rhodium-plated brass base dial with frosted finish supports an intermediate sapphire dial bearing applied minute numerals in Globolight®. Transparency and texture reinforce the sense of mechanics floating within the case.

Retrograde Minutes and Technical Signature

Balancing the sphere on the left, the right side of the dial displays retrograde minutes on a 180° sector. A micro-blasted brass minute hand with sandblasted coating and white Super-LumiNova® travels along a suspended track before snapping back to zero, a motion described by HAUTLENCE as one of its technical signatures.

The interaction between rotating hours and retrograde minutes creates a multi-layered experience in which time is observed as a sequence of movements. Integrated within the rectangular architecture, these displays combine mechanical innovation with clear, legible indications.

The A82 Calibre and Wearability

Powering the display is the hand-wound A82 calibre, designed and assembled in HAUTLENCE’s own workshops. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it comprises 160 components and 31 jewels, and delivers a minimum 72-hour power reserve, with a skeletonised barrel drum and ratchet revealing mainspring tension.

The calibre uses a hairspring from sister company Precision Engineering AG within the MELB Holding group and incorporates a safety system to prevent incorrect manipulation when setting the time. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement’s architecture is presented as part of the overall design.

The olive green and sand palette softens the technicality of the skeletonised construction. An olive green suede leather strap with titanium folding clasp secures the watch to the wrist and reinforces its contemporary, sport-influenced character, while the limited run of 28 pieces under reference DA82-TI01 underlines its focused, independent positioning.

Why It Matters

For collectors in the GCC, the Sphere Series 4 offers an expressive take on independent Swiss watchmaking, uniting architectural design with a three-dimensional, kinetic display of time. Its limited run, hand-wound calibre and sand–olive aesthetic will appeal to those seeking pieces that balance mechanical substance with a strong visual identity.
