TISSOT
Founded in Le Locle in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile, Tissot built its early reputation on export, reaching Russia and the Americas when few Swiss houses looked beyond Europe. The manufacture has remained in Le Locle for more than a century and a half, and its motto, Innovators by Tradition, describes a house that has repeatedly reached for the new without abandoning its origins.
A Record of Firsts
Tissot produced one of the first mass-produced pocket watches with two time zones, an anti-magnetic wristwatch at the turn of the 1930s, and later the Astrolon, a movement built with plastic components. The T-Touch of 1999 introduced a tactile sapphire crystal that turned the dial itself into a control surface, an idea the brand has developed across successive generations.
Timing the Field
Sport has become the brand’s most visible territory. Tissot serves as official timekeeper to cycling, motorcycling, fencing, basketball and rugby at the highest level, work that demands measurement to the thousandth of a second. Alongside it, the PRX, the Seastar and the Le Locle line carry the collections that make Tissot one of the most widely worn Swiss names in the world.
