Rolex Swan Cup 2026: Porto Cervo Regatta Unites 170 Swan Yachts

Porto Cervo hosted the 2026 edition of the Rolex Swan Cup on 19 September, with a fleet of 170 yachts assembled from a single shipyard — a scale that few regattas anywhere in the world can claim. According to the brand, the biennial event has run for over four decades, and the tripartite partnership between Rolex, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and Nautor Swan has been central to its character throughout.

Long-time Rolex Testimonee Paul Cayard, a world champion sailor who has attended many editions, described the atmosphere plainly: “very, very passionate. The regatta itself is a meeting of nearly 2,000 crew, mixing convivial atmosphere with some intense racing.”

Class Honours

Four yachts were scored as best-performing across divisions. Gerard Logel’s Swan 601 @robas from France led the Maxi class. Fernando Chain’s Swan 45 From Now On, sailing under Argentina’s flag, topped Cruiser/Racer. William Graves’ Swan 44 from the United States claimed the Legacy title, and Hendrik Brandis’ ClubSwan 50 Earlybird won One Design.

The spread of nationalities across the four winners reflects the international reach that has defined the Swan Cup since Rolex became title sponsor in 1984.

Six Decades of Nautor Swan

The 2026 edition carries additional weight for Nautor Swan, the Finnish luxury boatbuilder marking its 60th anniversary. The fleet ranged from vessels representing the earliest years of the yard through to the Swan 128, one of its latest and largest models.

Nautor Swan CEO Gianguido Girotti framed the occasion in terms that went beyond race results: “The partnership between Rolex, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and Nautor Swan is one of mutual respect, the result of shared values that blend together in an incredible location and create more than just a regatta for the community of Swan owners.”

Rolex’s Place in Competitive Sailing

Rolex’s title sponsorship of the Swan Cup is one point within a much broader commitment to sailing. The Geneva-based watchmaker has championed the sport since the late 1950s, and today holds title partnerships across 15 major international events, including the Rolex SailGP Championship. Its Testimonee roster extends from Paul Cayard and Robert Scheidt to Sir Ben Ainslie, Hannah Mills, Tom Slingsby and Martine Grael.
