Warm essentialism, unveiled in Dubai

Ressence has chosen Dubai Watch Week 2025 to present the TYPE 1 Round Rose Gold (T1°RG), a 70-piece limited edition that brings 4N rose-gold tones to the signature TYPE 1° design. It translates the brand’s crownless, minimalist language into a warmer register while remaining rooted in functional clarity.

For founder Benoît Mintiens, rose gold signals a change of mood rather than ornament. The sunray-finished 4N gold-plated convex dial in German silver is framed by a sandblasted case ring and bezel, giving the watch a presence that sits between discreet and expressive and aligning with a Middle Eastern collector base that prizes refinement, legibility and thoughtful design.

The convex 4N gold-plated dial of the TYPE 1 Round Rose Gold emphasises warmth and legibility.

Dubai’s status as a hub for independent watchmaking gives the launch added context. Mintiens positions the watch as a bridge between approachability and individuality, with an intuitive interface that still rewards close inspection of its finishing, contrasts and shifting dial geometry.

The 42.7 mm case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, contrasting with the rose-gold dial while keeping weight to 64 grams including strap and buckle. At 11 mm thick and topped by a double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, the watch wears light and compact, enhancing the impression of a single flowing surface.

The ROCS 1.3: complexity made intuitive

At the heart of the TYPE 1 Round Rose Gold is the patented ROCS 1.3 (Ressence Orbital Convex System) module, driven by the minute axle of a customised 2892 base calibre. Traditional hands are replaced by three rotating, biaxial satellites: the hours inclined at 3°, with seconds and day of the week inclined at 4.75°, creating a bi-dimensional reading of time that feels immediate in use.

Engraved indications filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova® secure night-time legibility, while silver-toned subdials sharpen contrast against the 4N gold-plated dial. The self-winding movement delivers a 36-hour power reserve, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and incorporates 40 jewels and 27 gears. Winding, day and time setting are handled via a lever on the caseback, eliminating a conventional crown and preserving the uninterrupted TYPE 1° silhouette.

Curated details for a global audience

Strap options subtly tune the character of the watch. The standard light grey suede strap echoes the cool accents of the subdials and keeps the palette contemporary, while in the US an exclusive dark chocolate brown leather strap offers a more classic, tonal pairing with the rose-gold dial.

All versions feature a 20/20 mm fitment and ardillon buckle, keeping the aesthetic streamlined and versatile. Limited to 70 pieces and made in Switzerland, the TYPE 1 Round Rose Gold will be available from 19 November 2025 through Ressence’s network of retailers and its e-shop, priced at CHF 18,150 excluding taxes, with splash resistance to 1 ATM underscoring its role as a refined daily companion.

Why it matters

The TYPE 1 Round Rose Gold distils Ressence’s philosophy of “Simplication” into a warm, contemporary interpretation that should appeal to design-led collectors. By pairing the ROCS display with rose-gold tones and a Dubai Watch Week debut, the brand underlines both its technical independence and its engagement with the Middle Eastern horological scene.

For collectors across the GCC, it offers a discreet alternative to traditional precious-metal pieces, anchored in interface innovation rather than heritage codes.
