Raymond Weil Freelancer World-Traveller: GMT and Worldtimer for a Centenary

Raymond Weil Freelancer World-Traveller: 260-piece limited edition GMT-Worldtimer honouring the founder's centenary. Available in the Middle East.

The Core Details

  • Unveiled on 10 October 2026, the date on which founder Mr Raymond Weil would have celebrated his 100th birthday, the Freelancer World-Traveller (reference 2762-STC-02026) marks both the centenary of the man and fifty years of the Geneva Maison he founded in 1976.
  • Limited to 260 pieces, combining GMT and Worldtimer functions for three simultaneous time displays.
  • Priced at CHF 3,995, in a 40 mm stainless-steel case with 56-hour power reserve (calibre RW3230).
  • Dial features a stamped, laser-textured relief world map inspired by the Mercator projection, with Raymond Weil’s hand-written signature replacing the standard house logo.

Design & Mechanics

The 40 mm dial is organised across three concentric zones, each carrying distinct information without visual congestion.

At the centre, champagne-coloured continents rise in relief against midnight-blue oceans, produced through a sequence of stamping, laser texturing and multi-stage colouring. Hour markers in nickel-plated applied indices sit precisely within the topography. The GMT hand, outlined in red with a white Super-LumiNova® insert, tracks the second time zone against a 24-hour graduated flange: champagne from 6 am to 6 pm, midnight blue from 6 pm to 6 am. An outer midnight-blue ring, directly connected to the rotating bezel, carries the names of 24 cities. The bezel’s indexed, notched mechanism locks each city name against the 24-hour scale with a single action.

Movement & Materials

Calibre RW3230, a self-winding mechanical movement, drives Worldtimer, GMT, date, and standard time functions from a 56-hour power reserve.

The case, finished in a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, measures 10.25 mm in thickness. A screw-down sapphire caseback carries the engraving “World-Traveller.” The sapphire crystal above the dial features double-sided anti-reflective coating. On the wrist, a navy-blue leather strap with tone-on-tone topstitching and a stainless-steel RW folding clasp with double safety push-buttons completes the piece. Water resistance is rated at 50 m.

Heritage & Lineage

CEO Elie Bernheim conceived the Freelancer collection in 2007, deliberately choosing a name that reflected the independent spirit of his grandfather. “When I chose the name Freelancer in 2007, I was already thinking of my grandfather,” Bernheim has stated. “He embodied the meaning of that word long before the collection existed — a man who was free in his decisions, independent in his approach to business, and bold enough to follow his own path.”

The 260-piece edition limit is not arbitrary. It references the centenary directly, tying each numbered piece to the occasion rather than to a commercial target. On the dial, the founder’s hand-written signature replaces the standard RAYMOND WEIL logotype, creating a more personal connection between the object and the man it commemorates.

Against Its Siblings

Within the Freelancer line, the World-Traveller is the most technically complex reference to date, adding a full Worldtimer to the GMT already present in other Freelancer variants.

Collectors familiar with Watches and Wonders releases from comparable Swiss independents will note that the CHF 3,995 price positions the World-Traveller accessibly against many single-complication GMT watches at this case diameter. For the Gulf market, the combination of a recognisable relief cartography dial, a legible three-timezone display and a personally charged edition number makes a coherent case at that figure.
