Mauron Musy marks ten years of nO-Ring® technology with the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin: 26 pieces, 13 unique dials, 44mm titanium, CHF 34,000.
What Sets It Apart
- Priced at CHF 34,000, the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin purchases something no other watch in this price band offers: a unique, unrepeatable fragment of an engineer’s working notebook printed directly onto the dial, across a run of 13 individually numbered titanium pieces.
- Ten years of nO-Ring® technology: 300 metres of water resistance achieved through metal-to-sapphire sealing alone, with no rubber gasket anywhere in the 29-component Grade 5 titanium case.
- The MM01-SK calibre, Mauron Musy’s first in-house movement, is fully skeletonised and readable through sapphire on both sides.
- Each strap continues the dial’s printed calculations via laser engraving, so the original reasoning runs off the plate and around the wrist.

The Story Behind It
Mauron Musy was founded in St-Aubin, Switzerland, in 2013 by Christophe Musy and Eric Mauron, and the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin marks two milestones simultaneously: ten years of the patented nO-Ring® technology, and thirteen years of the brand itself. The edition size of 13 is not arbitrary — M is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet, and both founders’ surnames begin with it.
The press release states that nO-Ring® took three years of calculations, prototyping and physical testing to resolve. The problem Christophe Musy set out to address was direct: a mechanical movement of extreme precision, protected at the case level by a consumable rubber gasket that degrades on a schedule. His answer was to seal the case metal against sapphire crystal through precisely held geometries, eliminating the gasket entirely and achieving 300 metres of water resistance that requires no specific maintenance to sustain.
Design and Mechanics
The 44mm four-segment case is Grade 5 titanium, 13mm thick, with alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Inside, the MM01-SK — Mauron Musy’s first exclusive calibre, comprising 157 components and 25 jewels — runs at 28,800 vph with a 55-hour power reserve. Its skeletonised architecture is open through sapphire on both sides, so the escapement, barrel and pinions are visible from the dial and from the caseback simultaneously.

On the Wrist
Thirteen dial designs were drawn from the original notebook pages. Each carries a different fragment of Christophe Musy’s handwritten calculations, printed onto a sandblasted black plate and framed by the open-worked architecture. The brand has not redrawn or corrected the notes: they appear incomplete, mid-thought, interrupted by the edge of the plate. The laser-engraved strap extends the same handwriting beyond the dial. Skeletonised sword hands carry luminous fill, and a small-seconds sub-dial sits at 9 o’clock.
“The ideas always come at night, always, then evolving the next day into another idea, a more interesting and feasible one,” Christophe Musy states in the press release.

Where It Sits in the Line-Up
The MU05-111 is one of two executions within the nO-Ring Origin series. A second version, the MU05-112, adds 13 further pieces on the same case, calibre and dial philosophy, distinguished by different colours and finishing — details Mauron Musy has not yet disclosed. For collectors across the Gulf considering the MU05-111, the watch is an independent Swiss manufacture piece at a price point well below comparable skeletonised titanium editions from larger houses, sourced directly from an independent manufacture that controls every stage of production within approximately sixty kilometres of its St-Aubin facility.
Each watch is accompanied by a commissioned artwork produced exclusively for this anniversary series.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of the Mauron Musy MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin, and is it available in the Middle East?
The MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin carries an RRP of CHF 34,000. As a limited edition of 13 pieces, availability is on request from Mauron Musy directly or through an authorised retailer in the Middle East.
How many pieces of the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin are being made?
The MU05-111 is limited to 13 individually numbered pieces. A second execution, the MU05-112, adds a further 13 pieces, bringing the total series to 26 watches.
What makes the nO-Ring® technology different from a standard water-resistant watch?
Where conventional watches rely on rubber gaskets, nO-Ring® achieves water resistance to 300 metres through direct metal-to-sapphire sealing, using precisely defined geometries and tolerances, with no gasket anywhere in the case.
What movement powers the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin?
The watch houses the MM01-SK, an exclusive self-winding calibre developed by Mauron Musy, comprising 157 components and 25 jewels, with a 55-hour power reserve and a 4 Hz frequency. It is skeletonised and visible through sapphire on both sides of the case.
Are any two dials on the MU05-111 nO-Ring Origin the same?
No. Each of the 26 watches across both executions carries a unique printed fragment of Christophe Musy's original handwritten calculations. The 13 dial designs within the MU05-111 series will not be reproduced.
