Design and Three-Dimensional Architecture
At the centre of the Conical Tourbillon sits an architecture that places mechanics on full display rather than concealing them beneath a conventional dial. The tourbillon cage, inclined balance and hairspring at 30 degrees, escape wheel at 15 degrees, and pallet fork at 23 degrees form a tilted, sculptural construction with no direct precedent in the HYT catalogue. Above and around it, the three orbiting spheres — configurable in sapphire, glass, diamond or coloured stone — add kinetic depth across every plane of the watch.
The dial territory available to each collector spans guilloché, mother-of-pearl, hard stones (agate, malachite, lapis lazuli), gem-setting, engraving and hand-painting. Colour choices within the mechanics, treatments on the balance and counterweight, and the chromatic selection of HYT’s signature fluid complete the picture. Super-LumiNova on the spheres activates a second nocturnal reading entirely distinct from the daylight composition.
The Bespoke Process
Every commission begins with a single intention — a colour, a material, or simply a desire to give the timepiece an identity that belongs to its owner alone. That intention opens a direct dialogue with the HYT teams, whose technical expertise informs every subsequent choice: material compatibility, chromatic balance, and the structural limits of the 701-TC architecture.
No decision is isolated. Case material, dial treatment, sphere composition and fluid colour interact with one another, and the Atelier’s role is to give each choice coherence across the whole. The collector brings the creative impulse; HYT supplies the watchmaking discipline to make it permanent.
Heritage and the Fluidic Principle
Founded in 2012 in Neuchâtel, HYT built its identity on the clepsydra — the ancient fluid-based timekeeping instrument — reinterpreted through precision engineering. The Conical Tourbillon is the furthest the manufacture has taken that principle: a capillary with a 0.8 mm internal diameter, bellows walls roughly one quarter the thickness of a human hair, and a fluidic module engineered to be 10,000 times more leak-tight than a watch rated to 10 ATM. This technology, protected by seven patents and manufactured by Preciflex SA, gives the Fondation Haute Horlogerie category of horological innovation a concrete, physical language. The H1, the first expression of this approach, received the Innovation Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2012.
