Design & Mechanics
Printed across 41.50 mm of stainless steel, the dial is the whole story. Oris applied a 3D-printing process to build physical texture into the surface, capturing the green-and-gold colour variation that appears as kelp sways in coastal currents. Golden outlines on the lumed hands and hour markers carry the palette upward. Under changing light, the dial appears to move.
The case is 12.90 mm thick, 49.00 mm lug-to-lug, and rated to 30 bar. A uni-directional rotating bezel carries a green ceramic insert with a minutes scale. The screw-in crown sits behind a protective shoulder. On the wrist, a tapered three-link bracelet with brushed and polished surfaces connects via a folding clasp fitted with quick-adjust and quick-change systems.

Conservation Context
Kelp forests produce up to two per cent of the world’s oxygen and absorb significant quantities of carbon. A NASA study found kelp forests off California have collapsed. Scientists in Spain recorded that 58 per cent of the country’s north-west kelp cover has vanished over the past 25 years. Francis Pérez, whose World Press Photo-winning career spans more than 25 years, has watched this decline at first hand and urged Oris to address it.
“Behind this watch, there’s an important story of conservation,” Pérez states. “I believe it’s going to generate a great deal of conversation.” The caseback engraving and the numbered edition reinforce that each piece belongs to a defined, purposeful series rather than a standard production run.
