Design and Dial Artistry

The red guilloché surface is produced entirely by hand on a rose engine lathe, a technique that traces radiating patterns across the dial as the lathe rotates. No two passes are mechanically identical, so the finished surface changes character under shifting light, from deep scarlet at oblique angles to a brighter, almost luminous red face-on.

Black azuré chapter rings encircle the guilloché field, their own fine circular texture set in deliberate contrast to the radial pattern beneath. The facetted hour markers, mounted directly on those rings, sit slightly proud of the guilloché surface, creating a layered visual depth that also preserves legibility without recourse to a conventional chapter ring overlay.

Colour and Strap Pairing

Against the vivid dial, the 43 mm stainless steel case reads as deliberately neutral. The dark grey Alcantara strap with white stitching follows the same logic: it keeps the eye anchored to the dial and the visible movement rather than competing with either. The result is a wrist presence that is confident without becoming decorative excess. Movement and Engineering

Calibre ARF21 is entirely designed, developed and produced in-house in Biel/Bienne. Its architecture places two complete, independent movements within a single calibre: each carries its own barrel, gear train, escapement and regulating organ, running at 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour) with a shared 48-hour power reserve across 276 components and 39 jewels.

The Resonance Clutch, patented by Armin Strom, continuously exchanges the vibrations of the two balance wheels. Over time, this exchange drives the wheels into harmonic resonance, where each oscillation reinforces the other. The practical result is improved rate consistency: external disturbances that would knock a single-regulator movement off pace are progressively damped by the counter-influence of the second wheel. The Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine applies the same architecture in a different complication context, illustrating how central the resonance platform has become to Armin Strom’s identity.

Hand Finishing and the Caseback

Sapphire crystals on both the dial side and the caseback expose the full extent of Armin Strom’s finishing work: hand-polished bevels, frosted surfaces, perlage and circular graining across the bridges, with black-polished screws throughout the calibre. On the reverse, technical inscriptions on the main plate are executed in three-dimensional relief, raised directly from the surface rather than engraved into it.
