A new trembling expression of the Tribute

The Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum Edition takes the maison’s contemporary dress-watch concept into more architectural territory, with a movement that is more openworked and skeletonised than the original Tribute 1. The gold-coated brass mainplate is entirely worked by hand using tremblage, giving the dial side a granular texture that plays with light and immediately draws the eye.

This backdrop is contrasted by a grey fumé off-centre dial and layered construction that emphasise depth on the wrist. The watch is housed in a 38 mm stainless steel case measuring 9.38 mm in height with 18 mm lug spacing, and is paired with a taupe Epsom strap with matching stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle.

The pulse of independent watchmaking

At the heart of the Tribute² Aurum is the hand-wound Armin Strom manufacture calibre AMW21, developed and produced in-house. It delivers a 100-hour power reserve thanks to the brand’s motor barrel construction, in which the arbor supplies energy directly to the gear train to improve efficiency and optimise space within the 33.5 mm by 4.2 mm calibre.

The AMW21 runs at 3.5 Hz, or 25,200 vibrations per hour, and combines a flat hairspring with a variable inertia balance wheel. It comprises 137 components and 21 jewels, sits behind sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, and offers water resistance to 5 ATM.

Decoration, elevated

The Tribute² Aurum is conceived as an ode to hand-finishing, with the gold-coated tremblage mainplate as its visual centrepiece. The skeletonised motor barrel with hand-polished bevelled spokes and the black-polished, bevelled steel finger bridge enhance the three-dimensional feel on the dial side.

On the reverse, a three-quarter bridge bears Geneva stripes and circular graining, while the 60° hand-polished bevel highlights the watch’s haute horlogerie intent. A three-dimensional escapement wheel bridge with a polished sink adds a sculptural touch, and each Tribute² Aurum is assembled twice to ensure both mechanical precision and visual coherence.

Exclusivity and context

Limited to 10 pieces, the Tribute² Aurum extends the Tribute collection while underlining Armin Strom’s low-volume, high-artisanal philosophy. Priced at CHF 27’000, it sits firmly within the realm of serious independent watchmaking, produced in Biel/Bienne and aligned with the brand’s “Science of Movement” design language.

Why it matters

The Tribute² Aurum distils Armin Strom’s strengths—movement transparency, technical ingenuity and meticulous hand-finishing—into a steel watch with clear haute horlogerie credentials. For collectors of independent watchmaking, the combination of tremblage engraving, a 100-hour in-house calibre and a 10-piece production run creates a concise, materially focused proposition with genuine rarity.
