A New Chapter in Ultra-Thin Watchmaking
The Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin debuts the Calibre 2550, a 2.4 mm self-winding movement with an 80-hour power reserve housed in a 39.5 mm 950 platinum Overseas case just 7.35 mm thick. Developed over seven years, it advances the Maison’s work in mechanical slimness within the sports-luxury category.
Inspired by historic calibres such as the 1120 from 1968 and the manual-winding 1003 of 1955, Calibre 2550 continues Vacheron Constantin’s pursuit of thinness, reliability and long autonomy in everyday use.
Inside Calibre 2550: Architecture and Performance
Calibre 2550 is built around a bidirectional platinum micro-rotor, a suspended double barrel and a compact single-level gear train. The movement has passed ageing and shock-resistance tests to confirm robustness and chronometric stability in daily wear.
The 15.5 mm platinum micro-rotor is integrated into the mainplate to save height compared with a central rotor while maintaining efficient winding for the 80-hour reserve.

The suspended double barrel stacks two barrels on a single post on the barrel bridge and assembles them in series in inverted orientation, allowing one barrel cover to be removed and reducing thickness. Winding torque is delivered to the upper barrel, while the lower barrel feeds the gear train to stabilise torque without a separate ratchet wheel.
The single-level gear train uses five wheels, with two on ball bearings to save vertical space and improve efficiency. Beating at 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), the calibre meets Hallmark of Geneva criteria and features a circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges with Geneva stripes and sunburst-finished wheels, while the platinum micro-rotor bears mixed finishes and a polished compass rose associated with the Overseas collection.
The Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin in Platinum
The Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin brings an all-platinum execution to the line, with case, bracelet and clasp in 950 platinum. The alloy contains copper and gallium and, after thermal hardening, offers mechanical properties with around 2.7 times greater resistance than platinum 950 commonly used in watchmaking.
The salmon-lacquered dial combines a sunburst satin-finished centre with a velvet-finished peripheral minute track, recalling historical pieces from the 1940s and the Traditionnelle perpetual calendar chronograph introduced in 2022. Applied 18K white-gold hour markers and hands treated with blue Super-LumiNova® secure legibility.

At 39.5 mm in diameter and 7.35 mm thick, this is the thinnest Overseas to date, following the ultra-thin reference 2000V in white gold from 2016. Water-resistance is 5 bar, and the watch retains the tool-free interchangeable strap system of the collection.
Alongside the 950 platinum bracelet with half Maltese cross-shaped links, the watch is supplied with a beige rubber strap and a dark beige alligator strap with a “nubuck touch” finish, both secured by a 950 platinum interchangeable pin buckle.
The Calibre 2550 has a 30.6 mm diameter, 153 components and 25 jewels, and powers hours and minutes only. A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement’s architecture and finishing, while the Hallmark of Geneva certification confirms the standard of construction and decoration.
The model is produced in a limited edition of 255 individually numbered pieces and is available exclusively through Vacheron Constantin boutiques.
