Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue: 38-Piece Limited Edition

Why It Stands Out

  • Limited to 38 pieces globally, the Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue follows the Viridian Green edition with a distinct chromatic palette and two reworked technical details: a metallised sapphire dial and new luminescent hour indices.
  • The graduated blue tone is produced through vapour-deposition metallisation applied to the sapphire disc’s underside, with no pigment, lacquer, or tinting involved.
  • Hour markers are hand-applied blocks of light blue Superluminova, replacing the metallic indices of the first Transparencies edition.
  • The automatic Calibre SXH7 is visible through both the dial and the caseback, with identical hand-finishing on every exposed surface.

Design & Dial Architecture

Forty-six months separate the Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue from its Viridian Green predecessor, and Czapek has used that interval to sharpen rather than repeat. The 38mm stainless steel case retains curved lugs and hollow flanks at 10.8mm thick. Both the dial crystal and the caseback are sapphire, each carrying an internal anti-reflective coating to prevent glare from either side.

The graduated blue is engineered entirely at coating level. A metallic film is vapour-deposited onto the underside of the sapphire disc in a pattern of microscopic dots, each roughly eight microns in diameter. Dot density increases toward the periphery and thins near the small seconds register at 4:30, producing a gradient that leaves the dial’s centre fully transparent while building opacity outward, without altering the glass’s optical properties.

Where the first Transparencies used metallic hour markers, the Aqua Blue introduces hand-applied Superluminova indices in light blue. After dark, the luminescence holds the same blue tone, creating visual continuity between the waking and nocturnal faces of the watch.

Movement & Materials

The automatic Calibre SXH7 is a fully skeletonised evolution of Czapek’s Calibre SXH5, redesigned to be as considered on the dial side as through the caseback. To achieve that, Czapek’s engineers reversed the escapement, relocated the small seconds to 4:30 so it could be driven directly from the fourth wheel, and repositioned the crown and keyless works accordingly.

Seven openworked bridges, angled from the movement’s outer edge to grip the gear train, reference the multiple-bridge construction of François Czapek’s 19th-century pocket watches. The micro-rotor is machined from 100% recycled platinum and engraved on both faces. Hand-chamfered inward angles, sandblasted bridges, and straight-grained flanks are applied symmetrically front and back, which in practice doubles the manual finishing work relative to a single-face movement.

The calibre runs at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) on 25 jewels, with a 60-hour power reserve. As Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek, puts it: “Transparencies plays with the excitement of seeing some details yet not all of them, letting our imagination figure out the rest of the gearing, like the organs of a beautiful body… a sort of mechanical eroticism that has always been an inspiration behind Calibre 5 and its ‘cousin,’ Calibre 7.”

Market Position

At 38 pieces, the Aqua Blue sits within Czapek’s pattern of tightly allocated limited editions, a positioning that aligns with collectors familiar with the Antarctique Révélation Titanium Cosmic Blue and the Quai des Bergues Sursum Corda. The Promenade collection occupies a distinct space within the Czapek range: technically ambitious but contained in scale, accessible for daily wear at 38mm yet fully open to scrutiny through every side of the case.

Orders open on 20th August 2026 through Czapek authorised retailers worldwide, the Geneva flagship boutique, and czapek.com. For collectors in the GCC, the direct online channel provides straightforward access to a piece that will not see wider distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pieces of the Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue will be produced?

The Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue is limited to 38 pieces worldwide, available through Czapek authorised retailers, the Geneva flagship boutique, and czapek.com from 20th August 2026.

Is the Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue available to order online in the GCC?

The watch is available to order exclusively through Czapek authorised retailers worldwide and directly on czapek.com as of 20th August 2026, making it accessible to buyers across the GCC via the brand's official website.

What makes the Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue dial different from the original Viridian Green edition?

The Aqua Blue replaces the Viridian Green's metallic hour markers with hand-applied Superluminova indices in light blue, and produces its graduated blue tone through a vapour-deposition metallisation process applied to the underside of the sapphire crystal, rather than any tinting of the glass itself.

What movement does the Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue use?

The watch houses the in-house automatic Calibre SXH7, a fully skeletonised evolution of Czapek's Calibre SXH5, beating at 28,800 vph with a 60-hour power reserve and a micro-rotor machined from 100% recycled platinum.

What makes the Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue collectible?

Beyond the 38-piece edition limit, the SXH7 receives the same level of hand-finishing on both its dial side and caseback, effectively doubling the manual work compared to a conventionally finished movement. The escapement was reversed and the small seconds relocated specifically to achieve full legibility through the sapphire dial.
