GALLET
Founded in 1826 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Gallet is among the oldest names in Swiss watchmaking, and for most of its history it made instruments rather than ornaments. Its chronographs timed the Wright brothers’ first powered flight, tracked city time for pilots on the earliest intercontinental routes, and marked Rex Mays’s victory at the Springfield Mile. Breitling acquired the marque in March 2025 and relaunched it in September 2026, two hundred years after its founding.
Heritage
The Flying Officer of 1939 is the reference the modern brand is built on: created for long-distance flights broken by refuelling stops, it let a pilot read the time at the next city through a rotating bezel ring. Harry S. Truman owned one and called it “the most elaborate watch I ever saw”. The Multichron family carried the tool-watch line forward — the Clamshell of 1938, among the first waterproof chronographs; the Pilot of 1969, for long-duration timing; and the motorsport lineage that became the Multichron Sport.
The Modern Collections
Four collections span three families: the Flying Officer for long-distance travel, the Multichron Pilot for changing conditions, the Multichron Sport for speed, and the Gallet Classics, three hand-wound tributes marking the bicentenary. Every watch is manufactured within Breitling’s infrastructure, alongside Breitling and Universal Genève in the House of Brands.
