A Design Born on a Single Sheet of Paper

The genesis of the Dennison + Collectability 2026 Edition is disarmingly direct. Last autumn in Geneva, John Reardon and Emmanuel Gueit sat down with a shared obsession — the asymmetric case architecture that defined a generation of 1960s Swiss watches — and a single sheet of paper. Gueit committed the sketch, and the direction was settled before the conversation ended. That clarity of intention is evident in the finished object.

Gueit is the creative intelligence behind some of the most commercially enduring watch silhouettes of the past three decades, and his involvement signals an ambition that extends well beyond a typical branded co-release. The brief, as both parties describe it, was to advance the Dennison design language rather than simply revisit it — to move forward with the same emotional logic that made the first collaboration resonate.

The Oblique Form

Where the inaugural Dennison + Collectability edition established the brand’s case personality, the 2026 Edition transforms it. The asymmetric opening cut into the case creates a geometrically shaped dial aperture that unsettles the eye in the best possible way — producing a sensation of movement even when the watch is stationary. At 35 x 33.6 mm and 6.05 mm thick, the proportions are precise, and the stainless steel or gold PVD case finishes keep the execution disciplined.

The Philosophical Position

Reardon has spent his career arguing that serious collecting and accessibility are not mutually exclusive positions. The Dennison partnership is a direct expression of that belief. At $790 USD, the 2026 Edition sits in territory rarely occupied by watches with this level of design provenance — a calculated choice, not a concession.

Two Dials, Four Characters

Oblique Enigma

The Enigma dial is the more atmospheric of the two. An inner blue sunburst finish sits within a diamond-cut metallic border, itself framed by a rich green sunburst surround. The layering of finishes and the deliberately off-centre composition produce something that reads differently depending on the light — and on the angle. There is a deliberate sense of incompleteness to it, as though the dial is mid-rotation, inviting the wearer to look again.

Oblique Vector

The Vector dial addresses a different register. Twelve lines radiate from the centre in a composition that is geometric and kinetic. In the gold reference, a warm gilt sunray ground carries contrasting black lines; in steel, a silvered sunray hosts blue lines instead. Both versions achieve something relatively rare in this price category: a monochromatic discipline that reads as considered rather than merely economical.

The movement is a Swiss quartz Ronda Cal. 1062 — a sensible and reliable choice for a design-forward watch at this price point. The sapphire crystal and embossed leather strap complete a specification sheet that prioritises coherence over specification inflation.
