Spring’s poetry in yellow gold
Van Cleef & Arpels revisits the theme of spring to enrich the Lucky Spring collection, first unveiled in 2021 as a celebration of renewal and optimism. Ladybugs, plum blossoms, lily of the valley buds and delicate leaves now welcome a new companion, as a butterfly joins this symbolic garden.
The butterfly has appeared in the Maison’s universe since 1906 as an emblem of grace and vitality. In Lucky Spring, it is rendered in lapis lazuli, blue and green agate, and luminous white mother-of-pearl, selected to evoke the freshness and light of the season and framed by the signature double beaded gold contour.

The Lucky Spring butterfly in motion
The new yellow gold additions comprise a long necklace, a five-motif bracelet, a clip, a two-finger ring and a pair of earrings. On the long necklace, three butterflies alternate between profile and full view along the chain, suggesting a gentle flight.
Each jewel is produced using the lost-wax casting technique, then polished at every stage to enhance the brilliance of the gold on both front and back. Gemstones are chosen for harmonious colour: blue and green agate are selected for even tones, while white mother-of-pearl is retained for its luster and soft reflections.
The two-finger ring offers a particularly evocative composition, uniting a plum blossom, a lily of the valley bud and a butterfly on different levels to create depth and lightness. The motifs seem to hover above the hand, echoing the fleeting nature of spring.

Lady Lucky Spring Butterfly: a Poetic Complication
The Lady Lucky Spring Butterfly timepiece from the Poetic Complications™ line translates this narrative into watchmaking form. On the dial, three white mother-of-pearl plum blossoms bloom against a worked background, while a butterfly takes on the role of indicating time.
Driven by a mechanical self-winding movement with retrograde minutes and jumping hours, the butterfly traces an arc across the dial before returning to its starting point at the end of each hour. The watch is housed in a 33 mm yellow gold case, crafted in the Maison’s Geneva ateliers and set with diamonds of D-F colour and IF-VVS clarity.
Enamel accents, engraved gold foliage on the case back and a guilloché dial lacquered in deep blue complete the composition, underscoring the encounter between jewellery art and horological expertise.
