The HAUTLENCE Linear Giacomo Agostini is conceived as a racing machine for the wrist. Its red, yellow and silver palette echoes the motorcycles that carried Giacomo “Ago” Agostini to 15 world championships and 122 Grand Prix victories, with the number 15 on the dial as a direct nod to his race number.

This is the first time a timepiece bears exclusively the name of Giacomo Agostini, and the collaboration goes beyond image. Agostini’s habit of pushing engines to their limits while providing precise technical feedback mirrors HAUTLENCE’s philosophy of testing boundaries and rethinking display architecture, turning the Linear Giacomo Agostini into a mechanical dialogue between rider and watchmaker.

A racing dashboard on the wrist

On the left of the dial, a graduated scale recalls dashboard instruments, while the linear hand stretches across it like a throttle cable, jumping sharply from hour to hour. HAUTLENCE’s linear retrograde jumping hour is staged here as a crisp, deliberately spectacular indication.

At six o’clock, the flying tourbillon turns under a red skeletonised bridge, reinforcing the competition aesthetic. Beneath it beats the in-house D50 self-winding calibre, with a module developed by Agenhor; running at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it is composed of 239 components and offers a minimum power reserve of 72 hours. The oscillating weight, engraved with a Möbius strip, alludes to the endless laps that forged Agostini’s legend.

Case, dial and strap

The Linear Giacomo Agostini is housed in a satin-finished and polished steel case measuring 43.0 x 50.8 x 12.2 mm (10.9 mm without the sapphire crystal) and water-resistant to 10 ATM. Sculpted flanks give the watch an aerodynamic profile, while the notched steel crown, girded with a red rubber ring and engraved with the HAUTLENCE logo, recalls functional racing hardware.

The multi-level dial combines skeletonised rhodium-plated brass with vertical satin finish and red Zapon lacquer, an intermediate tinted sapphire layer with printed minute track and Globolight® numerals, and an upper plate in matte red lacquer with black oxidation. Super-LumiNova® hour numerals ensure legibility, while the open architecture reveals the “engine parts” beneath. The minute cam, integral with the minute hand, performs one rotation per hour and drives the hour star at the end of each 60-minute cycle.

The D50 calibre, visible through the sapphire back, is conceived as a performance-oriented engine.

The red rubber strap, secured by a steel pin buckle, is accented with yellow and black to echo racing liveries. Around the sapphire crystal caseback, engravings of “HAUTLENCE”, “10 ATM” and “Suisse” reaffirm the watch’s technical credentials and origin, while the 28-piece limitation strengthens its appeal for collectors who value independent haute horlogerie with a clear narrative.

Why it matters

The Linear Giacomo Agostini crystallises HAUTLENCE’s contemporary, sportier chapter around a rider who actively shaped the machines he raced. By fusing a non-traditional linear display, flying tourbillon and a clearly articulated racing story, it underscores the brand’s role among independent watchmakers pushing Swiss mechanical watchmaking into fresh territories.
