JO MALONE
Jo Malone London was founded in 1990 by Jo Malone, a self-taught perfumer who started by making bath oils for her facial clients in Chelsea. The Estée Lauder Companies bought the brand in 1999 and turned its cream-and-black box into one of the most recognisable objects in luxury retail. The founder left in 2006; the house kept her name and her idea of simple, single-minded colognes.
Heritage
The signature is restraint: two or three notes, named plainly, sold in the same bottle since the beginning. Lime Basil & Mandarin from 1999 and Wood Sage & Sea Salt from 2014 remain the two pillars, and the London boutiques still teach scent layering, the practice of wearing two colognes at once.
Collections
Beyond colognes the house sells candles, bath oils and the limited seasonal collections that Gulf customers collect; Dubai Mall and Riyadh’s malls carry the full range, and the brand’s gift boxes are a fixture of Eid and wedding season in the region.
