The Digitrend OSII Black does not merely reference that moment; it resolves the structural problem the original could never solve. Co-founder and creative director Matthieu Allègre frames the project in terms of a “Historical Correction,” a conviction that mid-century design audacity was abandoned prematurely rather than superseded. Design & Mechanics

The defining structural decision is the sapphire hood, machined as a single block and positioned over the movement as a transparent shield. By removing the opaque metal shell, AMIDA creates a direct optical path from the exterior to the jumping-hour module below. Light charges the BGW9 Super-LumiNova indices continuously throughout the day, so when the lights go out, the display does not fade.

With the interior now exposed, AMIDA had no interest in hiding the engineering. The new internal framework, built from DLC-coated 316L steel, is sculpted to read as intentional architecture rather than utilitarian structure. Every bracket and form contributes to the visual composition, ensuring the view through the sapphire is coherent by design rather than incidental. The result is what AMIDA calls the “Nocturnal Form”: a glowing geometric profile that remains legible and consistent with the watch’s daytime identity.

The case itself measures 39.6 x 39.0 mm with a 39.0 mm lug-to-lug span. At 15.6 mm in thickness it wears with presence, though the compact lug-to-lug guarantees ergonomic fit across a range of wrist sizes. Water resistance reaches 50 metres.

Movement & Materials

The Soprod Newton P024 serves as the base calibre, running at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) with 25 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. AMIDA’s proprietary jumping-hour module sits above it, delivering the brand’s signature LRD (Light Reflecting Display) with prismatic technology and scrolling minutes. The automatic winding system requires no manual intervention for daily wear.

The strap pairing is considered: black Alcantara textile over an orange calfskin lining, with “from 1976 with love” printed on the reverse. Quick-release spring bars allow the owner to switch to the optional 316L steel bracelet, which uses internal springs for fluid articulation and closes with a butterfly deployant clasp engraved with the AMIDA plate. Bracelet length runs from 132 mm to 200 mm across 18 to 28 links.
