Hermès Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune

Hermès Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune: a double moon in ultra-thin form

Key Highlights

  • Ultra-thin skeletonised Manufacture Hermès H1953 movement with micro-rotor and 48-hour power reserve.
  • Double moon phase at 6 o’clock, displaying the lunar cycle for both hemispheres.
  • Two executions: bead-blasted grade 5 titanium with DLC-treated anthracite bezel, or platinum with matching bezel.
  • Openworked, sunburst anthracite or blue dials revealing the architecture of the movement.
  • Hermès leathercraft expressed through matt alligator and calfskin straps matched to each dial.

The Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune invites the wearer to look past the surface of time into its mechanics and poetics. Rooted in the Slim d’Hermès collection launched in 2015, it uses the line’s disciplined geometry and angular lugs to frame an ultra-thin skeletonised movement with a double moon phase at 6 o’clock.

Hermès positions time as an object rather than a mere unit of measurement, and the Squelette Lune translates that philosophy into an architecture of light, shadow and open space. Through its openworked dial, transparency and depth are set in balance, while the twin moons at 6 o’clock lend a quietly dreamlike focal point.

A movement shaped by light

At the heart of the watch lies the ultra-thin skeletonised Manufacture Hermès H1953 calibre. This self-winding movement measures 30 mm in diameter and just 3.57 mm in thickness, yet comprises 178 components and 29 jewels, with a micro-rotor keeping the profile slim and opening generous negative space.

Diamond-cut and bead-blasted bridges receive Vert d’Eau-toned or blue-toned treatment, echoing the shades of the dials and enhancing reflections within the openworked layout. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offering a 48-hour power reserve, the H1953 is fully visible through the anti-glare sapphire crystal case-back, reinforcing the idea of time as a living mechanism.

Titanium or platinum, two distinct characters

The Squelette Lune is offered in two precious yet contrasting guises, each in a 39.5 mm round case. The bead-blasted grade 5 titanium version features a polished, DLC-treated anthracite bezel, with an openworked sunburst anthracite dial, transfer-printed white minutes track and transfer-printed moon disc at 6 o’clock; black gold-treated baton hands secure legibility.

The platinum execution offers greater weight and brilliance, with a matching platinum bezel and anti-glare sapphire crystals front and back. Its sunburst blue dial is likewise openworked to reveal the skeletonised calibre beneath, with the same crisp white minutes track and moon disc at 6 o’clock. Both versions provide 3 bar water resistance, underscoring their urban, dress-oriented character.

The signature of Hermès leathercraft

The Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune also draws on the maison’s leather expertise to complete its aesthetic. The titanium model is paired with matt gris étain or black alligator straps, as well as black Barénia calfskin, each tuned to the anthracite tones of the dial and bezel.

The platinum version is offered on matt bleu abysse or black alligator, and on navy blue Swift calfskin, echoing the depth of the sunburst blue dial. In every configuration, the strap is conceived as an extension of the object, designed for daily wear while underlining the watch’s discreet refinement on the wrist.

Why it matters

The Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune distils Hermès’ view of time as a space for emotion and spontaneity into a highly technical yet understated object. By combining an ultra-thin skeletonised movement, a double moon phase and the maison’s leather savoir-faire, it offers collectors a contemporary dress watch that remains recognisably Hermès in both design and execution.
