AJMAL
Ajmal Perfumes was founded in 1951 by the late Haji Ajmal Ali, born into a family of rice farmers in Alinagar, a village in Hojai, in the Indian state of Assam. Drawn to the agarwood forests of his homeland, he took up the oud trade, moved to Mumbai in the 1950s and learned to blend fragrant oils, before opening the house’s first store in Dubai in 1976. Dubai has been its international home ever since.
Heritage
Ajmal describes its journey as one “from farms to fragrances”: the family cultivates agarwood in Assam and follows the oud from plantation to distillation and on to its own boutiques. Carried forward by the second and third generations of the family, the house exports to more than 45 countries and, in 2026, its seventy-fifth year, opened its first boutique in the Western Hemisphere at Westfield London, White City.
Collections
Oud remains the signature, from the Dahn Al Oudh series to concentrated perfume oils and attars, alongside mukhallat blends and bakhoor for the home. Contemporary eaux de parfum such as Aristocrat, Aurum and Evoke carry the same Gulf sensibility to a global public. Ajmal remains a family-owned house.
