Honouring 160 Years of Tiffany Timing

Tiffany & Co. marks the 160th anniversary of its first chronograph with the Tiffany Timer, a platinum series of 60 timepieces presented at LVMH Watch Week 2026 in Milan. The watch revisits an 1866 American timing instrument, recast as a contemporary chronograph that connects Tiffany’s timing history with its jewelry and design identity.

The story began in 1847, when Charles Lewis Tiffany started retailing Swiss-sourced watches, leading to the 1866 Tiffany & Co. Timing Watch, renamed the “Tiffany & Co. Timer” in 1868 with the opening of the brand’s Swiss watch assembly workshop. In 1874, a Geneva manufacture followed, producing complicated watches and securing patents that underpin Tiffany’s watchmaking today.

Platinum Architecture and Tiffany Blue® Dial

The Tiffany Timer’s 40 mm polished platinum case has rounded surfaces and chronograph pushers that curve with the profile and act as crown protectors. The faceted crown recalls the six-pronged Tiffany Setting, referencing the House’s diamond solitaire heritage.

The case frames a Tiffany Blue® lacquer dial with 12 baguette-cut diamond indexes that highlight Tiffany’s gem-setting savoir-faire. White gold hands for the hours, minutes and sub-dials contrast with the dial to preserve clarity.

Curved chronograph pushers follow the platinum case profile, paired with a taupe alligator strap and 18k white gold folding clasp.

The Tiffany Blue® dial is created through a process lasting more than 50 hours. An artisan spray-paints multiple layers of matte varnish with kiln drying between stages, then applies transparent lacquer coats that are dried, baked, transfer printed and diamond set.

The El Primero 400, Reimagined for Tiffany

Inside the Tiffany Timer beats a customized El Primero 400 integrated column-wheel chronograph, a self-winding calibre first launched in 1969. The dial follows the movement’s three-register layout: chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock, chronograph hours and date at 6 o’clock, and running seconds at 9 o’clock, with chronograph seconds on the periphery and markings printed in dark grey for legibility against Tiffany Blue®.

The movement offers a 50-hour power reserve and is displayed beneath a sapphire crystal caseback. The watch is specified with 10 ATM water resistance, a taupe alligator strap and an 18k white gold triple folding clasp, and is covered by a five-year international limited warranty.

Bird on a Rock: A Joyful Signature

Turned over, the Tiffany Timer reveals an open-worked oscillating weight carrying a 1.4 cm recreation of the Bird on a Rock motif in 18k yellow gold, hand-sculpted from a solid block and polished with traditional tools. Integrating this sculptural element required recalibrating the oscillating weight’s mass to preserve performance, and the sapphire crystal caseback is engraved with “Limited edition of 60”.
