GRAFF
Graff is a British jeweller founded in London in 1960 by Laurence Graff. The house is vertically integrated: it buys rough stones, cuts and polishes them in Johannesburg through its South African Diamond Corporation, designs and makes the jewellery in its own workshops and sells it in its own boutiques. Graff was the first jeweller to receive the Queen’s Award for Industry and Export, in 1973, and has won it four more times since.
Heritage
The name is inseparable from the great diamonds of the last half-century. Laurence Graff bought the Windsor Yellows at the 1987 sale of the Duchess of Windsor’s jewels, the 603-carat rough Lesotho Promise in 2006, the deep-blue Wittelsbach-Graff in 2008 and the Graff Pink in 2010. The Graff Lesedi La Rona, cut in 2019, is a 302.37-carat D-colour emerald cut that the house describes as the largest highest-clarity, highest-colour diamond ever graded by the GIA.
Collections
Bridal, high jewellery and coloured diamonds lead the collections, alongside watches: the Graff Calibre 1 movement appeared in 2010 in the GraffStar GrandDate, and the Hallucination watch of 2014 set 110 carats of fancy-colour diamonds on a single bracelet. The Peacock brooch, with its 20.02-carat blue pear-shaped centre stone, remains the house’s showpiece.
