Hampton Classic Horse Show Official Timekeeper Longines Presents Timepieces to Prize Winners
September 12, 2018
The Hampton Classic Horse Show returned to Bridgehampton, New York for its 43rd edition from August 26 to September 2, and once again, Swiss watch brand Longines served as the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the competition. Longines also presented the Official Watch of the event: a model from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection. Together, the Hampton Classic and the Swiss watch brand welcomed a field of the world’s best jumping riders to the Hamptons for a weeklong celebration of tradition, performance, and elegance.
On Sunday, September 2, Longines presented elegant watches to winners in a ceremony honoring their distinguished performances: the $30,000 Longines Rider Challenge cash prize was awarded to Shane Sweetnam, who accumulated the most points in the Open Jumper classes, and he also won the $70,000 Longines Cup in his second time winning the prize. McLain Ward, riding HH Gigi’s Girl, took the Hampton Classic Grand Prix prize.
Well into its third decade, the Hampton Classic Horse Show has become equally renowned as an institution of the New York social calendar, attended by high-profile celebrities and socialites who sip, stroll, shop, and spectate in one of the biggest highlights of the Hamptons social season. To enable guests to shop the latest Longines timepieces on site, including the Official Watch of the Hampton Classic, the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision”, the Swiss brand presented a pop-up Longines boutique on the show grounds at Stable Row.
Longines’ passion for equestrian sport dates to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. First worn on the racetracks as early as 1881, and extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, this model enabled its user to time performances to the seconds. It was already being used by most sport judges in New York in 1886. Today, Longines remains well-known for the brand’s expertise and involvement in equestrian sports timing. Longines is the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) associating with top-level competitions such as the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ and the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ – including the North American League, the 17-stage Longines Global Champions Tour, as well as the Longines Masters.
Presenting the Official Watch of the Hampton Classic: The Conquest V.H.P. ”Very High Precision”
The Official Watch of the Hampton Classic is the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision”, which represents a new achievement in the field of quartz combining great precision, high technicality, and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. Featuring a sunray blue dial, this timepiece houses an exclusive movement, renowned for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field. These attractive features are likely responsible for its exceptional movement status, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added.
