Today, the Tokyo Racecourse hosted the 37th running of the Japan Cup in association with Longines, of which the Swiss watch brand is the proud Official Partner and Timekeeper. The featured and eponymous race was claimed by Cheval Grand ridden by Australian jockey Hugh Bowman. Actress and model Ryo was invited by Longines at the event and was presented with the Longines Prize for Elegance. As the Official Watch of the event, the brand highlighted a model from The Longines Master Collection displaying a moonphase dial.

After a thrilling race, Cheval Grand ridden by Hugh Bowman won the 37th edition of the Japan Cup in association with Longines in Tokyo this weekend.  Cheval Grand finished ahead of Rey de Oro and Kitasan Black respectively.  On this occasion, Longines also celebrated elegance along with sports performances. Famous Japanese actress and model Ryo was invited at the event and was rewarded with the Longines Prize for Elegance.

The Japan Cup in association with Longines offered the perfect opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event, a model from the Longines Master Collection with a special moonphase function and a stainless steel bracelet. This line offers exceptional timepieces bringing together the classical elegance and excellent quality of the brand.

Established in 1981, the Japan Cup in association with Longines is the biggest race in the country and belongs to the most prestigious ones in the world. It is a is a 2400 meters international Group 1 turf race for horses aged 3 years or older.

Longines has been partnering with equestrian sports for more than a century. Today, the involvement of the Swiss watchmaker in the equestrian world includes flat racing, show jumping, eventing, endurance, dressage and driving. The watchmaker is also the Official Partner and Official Watch of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), and gives its name to the Longines World’s Best Racehorse title, as well as the Longines World’s Best Horse Race, the Longines World’s Best Jockey Award and the Longines & IFHA International Award of Merit. The latter was conjointly created by Longines and the IFHA in order to honour public figures for their outstanding contribution to the world of horse racing. This year, the ceremony will be held on December 21st in Tokyo.
