Head to Zermatt with Hublot for a Head-to-Toe Hublot Look
December 20, 2017
Hublot loves Switzerland – and the feeling is mutual! This iconic destination is home to local know-how and ethical materials. Since 2015, the watch manufacture has chosen Zermatt as the location for its traditional chalet boutique, inspired by a typical raccard grain store, which plays host to a light show starring symbols which represent the very heart of Switzerland. With stylish AK Skis to match your watch, and soft Orylag fur cuffs in mottled grey, turquoise or bright fuchsia: whether on the slopes or enjoying the après-ski, spend this winter on Hublot time with a range of interchangeable options.
"Big Bang Sugar Skull on your wrist and AK Skis on your feet, you reach the summits of Zermatt by the Hublot-sponsored ski lift, or take the "Hublot Express" to the top of the Gant-Blauherd slope. From here, the view over the Matterhorn is simply majestic. Back in the village, Hublot's chalet boutique has had a festive makeover with its façades illuminated by projections that transform the traditional raccard grain store with Swiss symbols. Cuckoo clocks, the Matterhorn and the "Poya" are interspersed with snowflakes to add to the winter magic. Once the show is over, it's time to change the One Click strap of your Big Bang, the essential component of your outfit. Tonight, it's an oversized leather cuff enhanced by exceptionally soft Orylag, an incomparably silky fine fur."
The Hublot Winter Story
Hublot's Swiss symbols
To mark the start of the winter season, Hublot is bringing the magic of Christmas to the façades of its chalet boutique. Giant Swiss symbols adorn the heart of Bahnhofstrasse, set at an altitude of 1608 m. From 19 December 2017 to 2 January 2018, every 30 minutes from nightfall to 9 p.m. the building is lit up by impressive designs, projected for 180 seconds. Its façades are transformed into a gigantic cuckoo clock, dressed as that most iconic and spellbinding of mountains — the Matterhorn —, adorned with cut-out motifs of the routes taken by the famous "Poya" Alpine cattle procession, and covered in shimmering white snow, before finally taking on the colours of Hublot's new year's greetings. It is almost as if the watchmaker is telling the story of its much-beloved Switzerland.
Big Bang One Click Cuddly Cuff Collection
The Big Bang 39 mm in King Gold or steel, with a diamond-paved bezel and/or case and a black or white dial, is now dressed in an ethical fur classed as "animal friendly" – Orylag, a protected French trademark. More than status symbols, Hublot turns its straps into fashion accessories full of creativity and innovation. By presenting a leather cuff trimmed with Orylag rabbit fur, Hublot brings a touch of daring to the wrist. The fur has been worked by an expert artisan furrier to give a whole palette of colours ranging from natural grey to unconventional turquoise and fuchsia.
Big Bang Sugar Skull AK SKI
The BIG BANG SUGAR SKULL limited editions and their alter egos — black skis machined to feature intrinsic floral arabesque motifs, paired with colourful bases and matching sticks — are set to become your new skiing companions. They bring together three cornerstones of Swiss expertise: Hublot, Bischoff, and AK SKI. AK SKI revolutionised the skiing world by becoming the first manufacture to use rubber in its skis. This material is also key to Hublot's pioneering spirit. The Big Bang Sugar Skull Blue Cobalt is a self-winding mechanical chronograph housed in a 44mm matt black ceramic case. The iconic skull features on the dial, bezel and even on the strap. Meanwhile the women's version, the Big Bang Sugar Skull Hot Pink, expresses its style with a 41mm case that showcases the intricate floral arabesque motifs of Bischoff embroidery, which form a skull design that spans its carbon fibre dial, ceramic bezel and pink rubber strap. Age-old expertise is encapsulated in a work of art, beautifully keeping Hublot time all winter long.
