A design that was conceived due to the partnership between Laurent Ferrier and one of its exclusive retailers, Swiss FineTiming is this radiant Galet Square-inspired Vintage America I. With deep honor, Laurent Ferrer shared the stage with Swiss FineTiming to introduce this limited edition timepiece, which stars a micro-rotor “échappement naturel" in steel that offers a two-tone sector dial that is reminiscent of the late 1930s plus unique lugs which were specially crafted for this limited edition. Only 10 pieces of the Vintage America I will be sold in the market.
Perhaps the most lauded part of this watch is the exceptional sector dial, in which Laurent Ferrier showcases a new composition of space and eye for design. Despite the freedom of creativity, the brand still pays respect to its own aesthetic codes, in which there is harmony in both principles and particulars. There is a great division between its outer and inner circle, based on its design: the outer part is satin-brushed in circular motion and the core is of vertical satin brushed finished. This presents the two-tone effect.
The spatial elements mark the delicate appearance of the watch. Black nickel gold slender and a raised chapter ring pays a nod to the brand's drop shaped hour markers. Arabic numerals in black nickel gold can be found at 9, 12 and 3 o'clock. The entire dial is finished off with a round cabochon cut, polished for a beautiful effect on the dial. The outer rail, on the other hand, comes with blue painted Arabic numerals. Gold and minutes hands come in an assegai-shaped pointer, treated with ruthenium. The seconds depict the core theme, and this provides the perfect balance of pure lines and readability as desired by Laurent Ferrier.
The case, however, takes the page out of Swiss FineTiming. New lugs were set to feature a side decoration. The timepiece is outfitted with a ball-shaped winding crown in order to ensure a smooth and pleasant handling. At the back, the sapphire glass was treated to reveal the inner part, which features the Swiss FineTiming logo. Secured to a tee, the water resistance level of this watch can go as far as 30 meters.
Inside, the watch is driven with an FBN Caliber 229.01, a self-winding movement with a unidirectional pawl-fitted micro rotor. It comes with a 3-day power reserve and a silicon escapement that moves with a double direct impulse on the balance. Two impulses, therefore, are made on each oscillation. The interiors are polished with circular graining and a tasteful Côtes-de-Genève motif. One can wear this beautiful watch with the brown alligator leather bracelet with a flat upper part and an Alcantara lining.
