It is a mystery and a fact known to man: time is always moving, always changing. Of this, Hautlence and Eric Cantona, the brand's illustrious ambassador, is strongly aware of. And of this, the Vortex Primary was created--a timepiece that weds beauty and technical excellences, unifying two factors in symbolizing the movement and transformation of time. First showcased in January 2016, Hautlence Vortex Primary unveils this powerful new timepiece in Asia in the last week of September, armed with the support of the brand's local partners as part of its Primary Tour.
Outstandingly wrapped with a three-dimensional cased with faceted, complex structures and 19 color crystals, Vortex Primary will immediately sweep you in. It showcases the mechanism of the manufacture HL2.0 caliber, moving in perpetual motion. The theme "passing of time" is fully embodied by the half-trailing hour chain; each time the hour changes, the timepiece undergoes a delightful transformation. Something so enthralling has never before seen in any watch.
In the changing light, the superimposed crystals slowly transform the Vortex Primary's appearance; it is a theme close to Eric Cantona's heart. He divulges that in order for one to survive, one must learn to adapt. Humans must know how to surpass themselves in order to exceed the limits, as imposed by the society, or by themselves. Metamorphosis becomes the central inspiration. One should always push further, to think, to try to be different. Time, he adds, is the only constraint one cannot escape from.
Which is why the starting point for Vortex Primary is a cage for the case, as if symbolizing that everyone is imprisoned by time. This is evoked by the stained glass window inspiration of the case's construction. But other than that, it also has many other meanings. The primary colors, for instance, are also symbolic. It represents complete freedom to create various shades when mixed. Time and death, Cantona says, are intimately linked. This is what Vortex Primary symbolizes—an irony of imprisonment and freedom, of life and death, of colors and transformations.
This celebrated masterpiece was launched in the presence of a small number of special guests. The event, starring a primary color themed, was marked by the reveal of an artwork made by Eric Cantona himself. It is an interpretation of the Vortex Primary in a form of a vertical sculpture, made up of panels of plexiglass, all in primary colors. The artwork, crafted in three versions, were given to the first owners of the Vortex Primary watch.
